Two members within our network were recognised as leading lights in last week’s annual New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards. Congratulations to David Archer, who was presented with the 2018 ANZIIF Lifetime Achievement Award and Rene Swindley, from Frank Risk Management, who took Young Insurance Professional of the Year. Now in its 7th year, the awards unite all sectors of insurance for a celebration of excellence, professionalism and community.
David Archer: Lifetime Achievement Award
ANZIIF had the following to say regarding David Archer and his contribution to our profession:
“It is a great honour to present this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award to an individual whose career has spanned four decades. As a consummate professional with a great passion for insurance broking, David’s career has been underpinned by a desire to build strong personal and professional relationships built on transparency and integrity.
Initially starting with Stewart Wrightson, David quickly rose to become Chief Executive, and then left to form his own broking company. Clearly entrepreneurial in nature, the judges were impressed by how he always sought new opportunities and thought outside the box. David was instrumental in setting up BrokerWeb Management in 2001, which was recognised by the judges for its role in safeguarding opportunities for smaller players in the New Zealand market. BrokerWeb Risk Services Limited was launched in 2006, and following acquisitions and the sale of 50 per cent of the company to AUB Group NZ in 2014, it has become a significant industry player.
The judges were also impressed by the way David prioritised mentoring other brokers. As a strong advocate for the New Zealand insurance industry, there was unanimous agreement that this is a very worthy recipient of the award.”
Rene Swindley 2018 Young Insurance Professional of the Year
Regarding the always competitive Young Insurance Professional category, ANZIIF had the following to say regarding Rene:
“Rene put forth a vibrant submission, and the judges recognised his passion for the insurance industry, which was sparked while still at university.
The judges were impressed by Rene’s focus on clients, his strong desire for achievement and entrepreneurial contribution to the industry. He was applauded for his business acumen and commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
Demonstrating formal involvement with and contributions to the broader industry, the judges agreed that Rene will have a great impact on the future of the industry and is a very worthy winner.”
Congratulations David and Rene and thank you for your contribution to the profession.
