Jo Mason

Jo Mason

CEO

Jo joined NZbrokers on 1 July 2016. Jo has more than 30 years insurance industry experience , both in New Zealand and Australia. Prior to this she was National Manager - Underwriting Agencies and Cluster Groups at Allianz Australia, a role that had responsibility for the Strategic Growth & Development of the Specialised Agencies, including such names as Global Transport, Strata Community Insurance and Pet Plan.  

Preceding this role, Jo was NZI’s GM Corporate and Facilities in Auckland where she helped lead the integration of the Lumley NZ business into IAG. 

Jo attended INSEAD business school in France & Singapore completing an Advanced Management Programme and is also Senior Associate of ANZIIF.

 

Steve Spooner

Partner Services Manager

Steve started in Insurance straight from college in 1983 where he worked for AMP General and for the last 36 years has held many client facing, underwriting, senior management and relationship roles in both AMP General/Vero, General Accident and QBE Insurance. To continue his passion for the industry Steve joined NZbrokers in 2019 as the Partner Services Manager.

A passionate Wellingtonian Steve and his family have spent the last 15 years with QBE Insurance in Auckland and for the last four years as the National Relationship Manager for QBE Insurance. This has helped Steve to get a broad national view as the role included getting close to the regional brokers and the regional issues that they face. Steve is also a Senior Associate of ANZIIF and works as a mentor to a number of underwriters.

Outside of work Steve enjoys spending time with his grown up family, travel, great food and wine and the occasional game of golf.

Rochelle Nayler

Rochelle Nayler

Head of Technology Solutions

Rochelle began her career in the Insurance Industry in 1989. She has experience with both Insurance Companies and Insurance Brokers in a variety of roles including underwriting, claims, binder facilities, account management and broking office accounts as well as office management. In 2010 a change in career direction saw her move into the IT systems side of Insurance with WebForm design, set up and implementation of eGlobal and staff training. Rochelle progressed with this career path in a role at Ebix as a Software Consultant working with ongoing development, testing, implementation, training and support of eGlobal.

In 2014 Rochelle joined NZbrokers Management where she leads a skilled IT Team, focussed on support and development for current systems taking NZbrokers into the future in the Information Technology space.

Rochelle is currently completing a Diploma of Leadership & Management through the AUB Academy.

John Davison

Technical Manager

John joined NZbrokers in November 2017 after spending 37 years with NZI.

John brings significant experience and local knowledge to the role. His previous roles have been in all aspects of insurance, sales, underwriting, audit, branch management in Auckland, Rotorua and Tauranga, and more recently as National Manager, CPF, responsible for managing the NZI team that services CPF throughout NZ.

John has a strong technical background particularly negotiating wordings and dealing with claims issues. He also has strategic, people-management and leadership skill being a people manager with NZI for over 25 years. John is also a Senior Associate of ANZIIF.

Outside of work John enjoys watching all types of sport, and plays the occasional game of golf.

Danielle Brookbanks

Danielle Brookbanks

Operations Manager

Danielle moved back to her native New Zealand with her young family in late 2015 and started work for NZbrokers in early 2017, originally in a part-time capacity. Danielle now performs the function of managing operations for NZbrokers.

Prior to this, Danielle has worked as a Key Account Manager in the beauty distribution industry with large FMCG clients in Australia. Prior to that, she worked in London in Sales and Client Services for a leading provider of energy trading solutions to traders, brokers and exchanges.

 

 

Tamara Gedye

Senior Systems Analyst & Administrator

Tamara joined NZbrokers in late 2017, spending the previous 5 years working for IUA in an Accounting and IT Administration role with a focus on eGlobal and Crystal Reports. 

Prior to that, she studied for her Bachelor in Accounting and Information Systems while working part time for a Marine Engineering company as Office Project Assistant setting up a new information system. 

Outside of work Tamara enjoys playing board games, watching cricket, camping and hiking – currently making her way through New Zealand’s 10 Great Walks.

 

Norman Tupu

Systems Analyst & Administrator

Norman joined NZbrokers in June 2019. Beginning his insurance career in 2004 at NZI Personal Lines Branch, Norman took on various roles for 7 years including Resolutions Consultant and 2IC Team Manager. Norman then spent 8 years at Fidelity Life Assurance, most recently in the Finance department leading the Commissions team.

Outside of the office Norman enjoys listening to and making music, watching movies and Warriors games.

 

 

Bojana Rosandic

IT Support

Bojana moved from Serbia with her family in 1996 and has found a much-loved new home in New Zealand. She joined the NZbrokers Management team in August 2015 in an IT support role.

In her previous position at Ebix, Bojana gained good knowledge of eGlobal which has allowed her to expand her skills. Bojana assists the support team with ongoing eGlobal maintenance, reports, enhancement and development and also enjoys building good rapport with members across the group.

Bojana has a New Zealand Diploma in Business from Open Polytechnic and she enjoys implementing her accounting skills whenever needed. In her spare time, she is a big movie goer and avid basketball, tennis and rugby league supporter. Word of advice – don’t engage her in any debates about her favourite teams, it’s probably an argument you are going to lose.

 

Gary van Zijl

BI Manager

Gary joined NZbrokers in 2017 as part of the Nexus project and is currently working within the development team.

Prior to joining NZbrokers, Gary was managing a specialist online insurance facility, having started in the industry in a Waikato based brokerage in a role across Legal and Broking Support. Prior to joining the industry, Gary has an academic background of a Bachelor of Law and Economics.

Outside of the office Gary is an avid follower of Theatre and Symphony performances, and spends time on the golf course when the weather allows for it. But this is obviously a blatant lie, he spends his weekends in the passionate embrace of his one true love: insurance.

 

Carla Gilmour

Marketing Manager

Carla is an experienced corporate marketer, who started working with NZbrokers in February 2017. She is responsible for marketing and communications for NZbrokers as well as for delivering marketing services for partners within the group.

Carla began her career in South Africa, during this time she assisted one of Africa’s largest insurers with marketing for niche services, she also worked at a large multinational, developing strategies for marketing data solutions to various industries including automotive, insurance and other international markets. Carla made the move to New Zealand in 2014 with her family. During her time in here, she has continued to grow her marketing skills and develop an understanding of the unique New Zealand market and how to assist businesses thrive within the different regions.

Keith McIvor

Keith McIvor

Director NZbrokers 
Managing Director NZbrokers Holdings, AUB Group Head of Group Development.

Keith  joined AUB Group on 1 August 2013 as the Group's Chief Broking Officer, with over 28 years’ insurance industry experience in New Zealand, Australia and internationally. Prior to this, he was CEO of OAMPS Insurance Brokers, a Wesfarmers Company which had 800 staff and in excess of $1 billion in client GWP.
 
Preceding this role, was Executive General Manager and a shareholder in Crombie Lockwood New Zealand, a company he spent 17 years with.
 
Keith holds a Diploma in Insurance & Insurance Broking and a Diploma in Strategic Planning. In addition, he is Fellow of IBANZ, Senior Associate of ANZIIF (CIP), Fellow of Australian Institute of Management, GAICD and has previously held a Director position on NIBA.
